Happy Birthday Title IX

June 24, 2008

I have lots to talk about . . . the season’s started, I have a new, incredible bike I’m racing on—courtesy of Tiffany Brown at Giant Bicycles. Check out the Giant for Women site. There’s lots of great info on getting started, joining a club, finding the right bike, tuning up your own steed. I’ll be writing a little thing or two about track racing soon. Giant’s got tons of great stuff going on for women.

(Pics of my new bike coming soon!)

I just started training at Velocity Sports Performance in Allentown, which is an amazing facility staffed with passionate, knowledgeable folks. And the T-town racing season has begun, so I’m working myself into race form each day. Coach Ben has a new saying—I’m not sure where it came from—which is “Get ‘er done!”

If you’re looking for a place to launch from here, go to the Women’s Sports Foundation page. I had no idea Title IX was just 3 years younger than myself. Some interesting columns about the bill that I was unaware of. They’re worth checking out.

Dara Torres rocks! Check out the story about mother, advocate, and Olympic swimmer Dara Torres while you’re there. She’s my new idol.

  1. I LOVE Dara Torres. She is a living testament to what strong women can do when they set their minds to it. And that you can live a full, complete life as an athlete. Great stuff.

  2. I want to see your bike! I rode a track bike a couple weeks ago for the 1st time ever and I loved it. It was so fun. I can’t race though, will probably build up an old fixed gear and see how it goes.
